Coral Bay Bowls Club

Coral Bay Bowls Club was established in 2005 at the Corallia Beach Hotel where an all weather outdoor bowling green had been installed at its premises on the coast. The club had an initial membership of 20, most of whom lived to the west of Paphos and found the location convenient. The club was a founder member of Bowls Cyprus, the umbrella organization for bowling in Cyprus, and actively took part in inter-club competitions from its inception. Over the years Coral Bay Bowling Club has gradually improved its competitive success in bowling in Cyprus.
Membership increased gradually up to 2009, when it reached about 70, and the club persevered with its original aim of being a "member’s club", with no formal general committee and all substantial decisions being taken at monthly meetings, to which all members are invited and encouraged to actively participate.
In an attempt to establish improved conditions of green access and security of tenure, tentative approaches were made to a number of other potential hosts for the club, leading to an agreement with the developer of the proposed Neo's Sports Club, and culminating in our move to our new home in May 2010. Since that time, the club has been very active in encouraging people who may be potentially interested in becoming new bowlers. Through a combination of our attractive venue and facilities, and a welcoming and accessible training and coaching programme, our numbers have rapidly exceeded the 100 mark. We anticipate this number continuing to grow, due to the large number of ex-pats living in the vicinity and the club's intention is to encourage local youngsters to take up the game.
Prospective new members can have coaching lessons at a cost of €30 but this is refunded if you join the club. A full year's Annual Fees is €280 which entitles you to 7 day access to the green at no extra cost. Thirty euros from the Annual Fees goes towards club registration as well as green fees for leagues.
If you are new to bowling, please contact Dave Webb, one of the club coaches, (99 06 50 02) who will explain all aspects of the club and, if you wish, organise an introduction to bowling and a course of training. This will be aimed at bringing you to a standard where, if you are still interested, you can make an application to become a member of the Club.
If you are an experienced bowler, please contact Vice Chairman Huw Bolsdon (99 24 89 43) who will answer any of your questions and, if you wish, arrange for you to meet and play with some club members. You will then be able to decide whether you wish to apply to become a member.
There are organised roll-ups on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings, 0930 hrs for a 1000hrs start, where visitors are made more than welcome.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our club.
